Top Ten List

Just a personal blog, maybe last

Hello word pressers,

Its pretty late and I’m finishing a lot of HW.  I’m happy because I just filmed my top ten things I learned in PR.  This class was very interesting.  I’m hoping, like every other class ive taken, I can keep something from this one.  Time will tell.    -ajb

WKRP – in class video

I loved this show.  I’m quite sure had I been living in the 70’s I would watch it every week.  This sitcom reminds me of most “funny” sitcoms.  I say the word funny because some sitcom producers don’t know the meaning of a sitcom anymore.  Shows this day in time just aren’t funny anymore.  Turkey’s everywhere were pushed and promoted due to this episode.  Th funniest part was when the station manager and “Les” – if thats his name?, were discussing the promotion in the office and Les was trying to relay what happened and stated that it got stranger after the helicopter landed.  Then the station manager said, “God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.”  Good stuff!1926223wkrp1

Fallujah Video Game

The Game of the decade?  War clearly tops news for the new century, but a game about it?  Could it be over doing things just a bit?  This game released by Konami was dropped.  I’m actually on both sides of this situation.  My father being a veteran of 20 years of service, I can understand how families and loved ones could feel towards this game.  To many Americans, this will be jsut a game, however to many more, this was reality.   The reality part of this is not good at all.  Many lives were lost and it was all for nothing.  We fought just to get things were they were all along.  At the same time, this game isn’t any different from other games that have been just as gore related and tragic as this one.  The Medal of Honor series didn’t stir up comotion from WWI and WWII Vets.  I think people just want to stir things up a little bit sometimes.  The GTA Collection is a great example.  Everytime a game is released by the Rockstar company there is uproar, but do they drop the game, nope. I think Konami wouldve made millions off this game.  Well, needless to say, money isn’t everything.

Wholesale Home?

Amazing!  This house is for sell for only $1.  Pretty darn cheap before you spend about another $25,000 just to have it moved.  The new owner of the land that this farmhouse sits on has put this home on the market for the low price just so someone can move it.  He saw no reason in destroying, unless no one really doesn’t want it.  I was thinking if I had a couple $20,000 laying around I would have it moved, renovate it, and sell it to an agriculturalist.  I”m sure that person would appreciate it.  The only problem is finding land to lay it on?

No more Pig?

Okay, probably not so nice to include Babe the pig in this, but its kind of ironic.  Well, at least people of the Islamic faith have nothing to worry about.  Not to be funny, I just had ribs earlier today, so I am somewhat concerned.  I’m thinking that maybe this was planned.  I’m not going to get into my whole idea about politics and what I think.  That’s not what this blog is for.  I wouldn’t want to contaminate readers of my PR class on a whole different level of education that they are not ready for.  Simply enough, its population control.  Keep in mind the three largest states have been hit: California, Texas, and New York.  Then they just throw in Arkansas to make it seem like, “Oh it happening somewhere else.” No!  Its population control and the government knows it.

Draft-ing mistakes?

2009-nfl-draft-props

This was a draft to remember.  First off, Congrats to Matt Stafford.  The Number 1 overall pick with $42 million guaranteed.  Not bad Rookie.  My Cowboys are on a rampage.  I wont put them down and say they made poor decisions.  The idea of going with a “youthful” roster is fine i guess.  Critics have noted that the super bowl teams they put together in the past were just as youthful.  They also noted that the same picks late in the draft they made this year is alike the draft decisions they pulled in then, as well.  Could it be a repeat of the past.  Some people say they need time to rebuild and they re not going to the super bowl for a while.  I’m not falling asleep on them yet.  Never will I do that.  I’m going to wait and watch as everyone hop onto the bandwagon.

One More Week

Time for Testing

Time for Testing

The time has come for the semester to end.   We are approaching the final week of classes.  Usually the final week is last week, by this time if we haven’t done any new work, we probably wont.  I’m feeling the rush.  This would be my fourth time around for a spring semester finals.  Having hopes it would be my last time, but it didn’t happen that way.  I have two on-line finals and two written finals.  There is no way I will do bad on these exams because I will prepare.  I have a lot to study for and I will start a week ago.  That’s right.  I know that sentence didn’t make sense, but I have already started preparing for my finals.  I will not wait until the last minute and have to cram.  Cramming used to work for lower level courses, but unfortunately it doesn’t work anymore.  I have to actually read material.  I’m hoping to come out on top with at least a 3.0 for the semester.  Anything less will hurt.  I will live, but it would make life better.

Another 48 hours of Twitter!

It has happened again.  I spent more than 48 hours on twitter nad I actually liked it more than the first two weeks.   This time around I’m used to being on the site and navigation was a lot easier.  I have increased the quantity of followers and people that I am following.  I also noticed how many celebs and network television stations/ shows are using the site.  Jay Leno has some cool updates himself.  I was thinking the most helpful way to understand many of your favorite celebs is to follow them on twitter, if its really them anyway.  Based on my experience I will continue to use twitter.  For some reason it has stuck.  I’m liking it as much as Facebook, so therefore it gets an A grade in my book.  I understand why Dr. Nixon would have us use such web application.  It is a social powerhouse.  That is important for PR professionals to use social networking tools to ensure they are up to date and aware of the newest advances in technology.  The thing that questions me is what is next?  We are using the Facebooks and the myspaces in addition to the twittering.  What will be the next coolest online social source.  All of these have millinos of users.  Maybe its just that simple to create a online social site.  If it is that simple then I’m on my way to brainstorming.  I could use some of the profits to get out of college debt.twitter
